Frequently Asked Questions

What subjects do you teach?

I teach math, French, English, and the accompanying IB programs at all levels, including high school. I specialize in helping kids who struggle with math and have not been able to overcome their difficulties and seem to be stuck, getting very anxious and upset and rapidly losing their self-confidence. I have a multi-faceted approach to moving them past this point and getting them back on the road to success that I have found works very well indeed.

Do you offer piano lessons?

Yes, I provide piano lessons for both kids and adults, tailored to individual skill levels. I teach from the Piano Adventures skill-leveled books and add in my own music but am also very happy to be student-led. If the student has an interest in Disney songs or Taylor Swift or Handel, that can be arranged!

Where do lessons take place?

Lessons can be conducted at your home or at my location, based on your preference. For those people living in the Bethany and Forest Heights area, I usually come to your home. Older kids often prefer math to be on Zoom to save time and since there is a white board we can share to work our problems on, this works very well. A combination of the two, in-home and on Zoom, is always an option also.

How long are the lessons?

Lessons typically last for 30-45 minutes dependent on the age of the student but can be adjusted to fit your needs.

What is your teaching experience?

I have over 20 years of experience in tutoring and teaching piano professionally. I am fully certified by the state of Oregon and have spent many years in the classroom setting as well.
